The Harmonized Sales Tax Has Come Into Effect in Ontario - 02/07/10

On July 1, 2010 the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) comes into effect in Ontario. Starting September 1, 2010 First Nations status card holders will be exempt from the provincial part of the HST for eligible off-reserve purchases.

For July and August, status card holders will be refunded the provincial part of the HST. For purchases made during the interim period of July 1, 2010 to August 31, 2010, status card holders can file a refund application with the Ontario Ministry of Revenue. Refund application forms will be available starting August 1, 2010:

Refund application forms should be submitted between September 1, 2010 to November 1, 2010, and must be accompanied by:

  • original receipts
  • photocopy of both sides of the Status Indian Card.

Local Musician to be accepted into the Northern Onatrio Country Music Association

Local Musician and Band Member of the Missisauga First Nation, Roger Daybutch has been nominated by friends and supporters to be inducted into the Great Northern Opry from the Algoma District on June 10th, 2011. Read more.... induction

STATEMENT OF WORKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION AND CAMECO CORPORATION - SATURDAY JULY 17TH, 2010

On Saturday, during the Pow wow at around 2 pm, Mississauga First Nation signed an agreement with Cameco Corporation called the "Statement of Working Relationship.

Mississauga First Nation Cultural Camp Field Trip


In mid-july, the Cultural Camp had taken a field up to the Aubrey Falls area (Mississauga First Nation winter hunting and trapping grounds) off highway 129. Elder, Roger Daybutch, led Reg Niganobe and his Cultural Camp on a field trip for a wonderful experience into the past history of the Mississauga First Nation, which all enjoyed.......read more
